CZECH CUBISM
Long-term exhibition
House of the Black Madonna
opened in December 2015
The new long-term exhibition occupying two floors of the House of the Black Madonna presents the key works of Czech Cubism in furniture, applied arts and graphics from 1911-1914.
The concept and layout of the exhibition is based on the intention to present the interior space alone as an exhibit - a unique cubist building with a strong visual link to its immediate surroundings thanks to its large windows. The furniture is presented on pedestals in glossy white, which reflects the distinctive shapes of the exhibits that are complemented by the paintings and prints on the walls. Partitions are made by using strips of wallpaper with contemporary design and create an authentic background to the exhibits. Texts are on glass panels.
The exposition is supplemented by projections of Cubist architecture photos, tablets with profiles of Cubist artists and an active zone where you can try to sit on a replica chair and do other activities.
